Falling behind on the mortgage

I was in a very bad hit-and-run accident a little over a year ago.

A motorist sped through a red light in downtown Jacksonville and hit my motorcycle.

They didn’t stop to assist me. I am fortunate that someone happened along and called 911. I went through multiple surgeries and physical therapy. I was in a great deal of pain and missed a lot of work. The medical bills accumulated very quickly. The pain medication was extremely expensive. I could no longer pay my mortgage and fell behind. I was on the verge of losing my house. I needed an influx of cash very quickly. A conventional real estate sale wasn’t going to work for me. A friend of mine suggested reaching out to homebuyers that make cash offers. At first, I was a bit skeptical. It seemed too good to be true. I expected there to be all sorts of hassles and a really low offer. Since there was no obligation, I filled out the online form. I was surprised to get a response within an hour. The condition of the house wasn’t an issue. My financial difficulties weren’t a stumbling block. The offer was fair and I accepted. This allowed me to avoid hiring a realtor and paying the fees. I didn’t need to deal with staging the house or showing. By taking the cash, I was able to get out from under the debt and move into a smaller place that is more affordable and easier for me to take care of. The closing was completed in under two weeks.
